Baguio City is a home of cowboy and western culture; influenced by Americans, western music also dominates the whole city and nearby towns.
When I first visited my ancestor’s hometown, I was a bit confused with their choice of music. Country music was never been introduced to me or, maybe because I was born and raised from the Southern part of the country with a different kind of music. Baguio city is one of the country’s most peaceful city. Nightlife is not like in other metro cities of the country. Baguio nightlife is limited to country bars and folk houses. Ofcourse, be ready to hear country music and cowboy Texas looks, dressed with boots like always ready to ride a horse. Imagine someone riding in a rodeo with waterproof cowboy hats.
These recent days, due to modernization, there are certain bars that offer KTV or sing-along, karaoke bars for non- western and country music lovers. There are entertainment houses that also offer live band, acoustic band; chill and soft light cozy bars, live piano bands, country western ambiance with live bands. There is a lot to choose according your taste; I suggest you try the country folk houses
Only one thing that I never get used to; the noise, the smell of cigarettes and alcohol. So, if you are like me who is not a partygoer, I suggest you go to private KTV bars where you can sing with your love ones with limited people.
There is a lot to choose according your taste; I suggest you try the country folk houses where you can sing with live bands. Be ready to experience the western dance also. At first, I cannot appreciate it, but later on with my brothers and sister who are band singers in a popular folk house, I get used to the music and dances and enjoy the western music of my ancestors.
